Bonnievale Cemetery Rules and Regulations

POLICY & PROCEDURES for the Bonnievale Cemetery of Fallon County

Policy

- Bonnievale Cemetery is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and opening/closing of the graves for the cemetery.

- No person other than authorized personnel shall excavate a gravesite unless authorized by the cemetery board.

 

- Bonnievale Cemetery is responsible for the collection of monies for plots and the opening /closing of the graves.

 

- Recreational activities are not allowed on cemetery grounds including the consumption of alcohol or the use of illegal drugs.

 

- Bonnievale Cemetery is not responsible for the theft or loss of personal belongings.

 

Right of Burial

Burial sites/lots are conveyed as “Right of Burial”.

 

In the event that a burial site is unused for more than 80 years after its sale and/or transfer, the title to the burial space shall revert to Bonnievale Cemetery.

 

Lot Information

A cemetery lot is 6' wide by 10’ long. 

 

Purchase of each lot will be $300.

 

Must take the next lot(s) in line in the current section.

 

New lots will be available from north to south with no lots in between.

 

Bonnievale Cemetery will determine the next available section to open.

 

No lots can be transferred without the approval of Bonnievale Cemetery.

 

Interment

Hours of internment; Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. at an overtime rate. Graveside services will not be scheduled after 3:00 p.m to ensure that the caretaker has sufficient time to take care of the gravesite.

 

No Sunday or holiday burials.

 

Outer burial containers are required for all casket burials and cremation burials.

Outer burial container materials allowed: concrete, polyguard with base. 

 

Bonnievale Cemetery reserves the right to require a minimum of 48 hour notice for burials.

 

A maximum of two burials are allowed in one plot. If there is a full burial, it must be first, and then one cremains are allowed on top. If there is no full burial, two cremains are allowed in one lot. 

 

No burials may take place in between lots or in non-designated burial spaces.

 

Monuments

a.   All headstones and footstones must be made of either granite, marble or bronze. No other materials are allowed.

b.   All headstones and footstones must be placed on a concrete or granite foundation.

c.   A maximum of two markers per lot, one headstone and one footstone.

d.   Bonnievale Cemetery does not install or accept deliveries of headstones or footstones and requires prior notification of the placement of these monuments.

e.   Bonnievale Cemetery is not responsible for the repair or replacement of headstones, footstones, or monuments from damages.

f.    Headstones are placed at the head of the grave and may be read from either the east or west, at the discretion of the individual. 

 

Graveside Memorials

  • Flowers may be placed in a vase attached to the headstone or the base and be at least 6 inches off the ground. An exception to this rule is from 7 days prior to Memorial Day to 14 days after Memorial Day.
  • Planting of trees and shrubs is prohibited
  • Fencing, curbing, hedging, or borders will not be allowed around or on graves
  • Cemetery caretakers maintain the right to remove any graveside memorial (including flowers) that are broken, faded, or considered a hazard, at their discretion, with no liability for damage or loss.
